How to Change port in Vista Remote Desktop connection

 Remote Desktop allows a user to remote access to a computer which enables Remote Desktop server. You may want to switch your port number for security. Here we're going to talk about how to Change port in Vista Remote Desktop connection.

1.Click on "Start" button, type in "regedit", and hit enter.







2.Follow the path "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\WinStations\RDP-Tcp" to open "RDP-Tcp" by double clicking on the folder.



3.On the right-pane you can find the file "Portnumber", double click on it.



4.In the new pop-up window, check the "Decimal" box and then input the port number you want to change to, for example: 443.



5.Changing port in Vista Remote Desktop connection is completed


Tips
To change back to the original port, simply replace the PortNumber (ex: TCP 443) to TCP port 3389.
